Niël van Vuuren is a full time cartoonist and artist. His first cartoon strip appeared in Rapport's magazine "MyTyd" in 2006 and shortly thereafter a second strip entitled "Hoipoloi" was published in the Afrikaans tabloid Sunday newspaper "Sondag".

He was born in Namibia and completed high school in the Free State (Sasolburg). He has an Honours degree in International Politics from the University of South Africa.

In 2008 Niël started off with substitute work for Rapport's regular cartoonist. In 2009 he became the co-cartoonist for Beeld together with Frans Esterhuize. Since 2010 he has been responsible for Volksblad's daily editorial cartoons and currently contributes daily editorial cartoons to both Beeld and Volksblad, Mondays to Saturdays.

Like his favourite illustrators/cartoonists T.O. Honiball en Uderzo (creator of the Asterix books), Niël finds people and their peculiarities the most interesting and stimulating topics to depict in his art. His current profession is the perfect merger of his keen interest in politics and current affairs and his love of art.

He has completed many private, social and corporate commissions.
